Has there ever been a fish that at one point you thought you would never own, or thought it would do terribly in your tank? Yet one day you chose to get the fish, and it does amazing in your tank/ you end up loving it. Maybe it was a fish that is known to be aggressive, or maybe it was a fish you thought would be boring, but instead it is one of the most entertaining fish you have!

Let's discuss misjudged fish!

Let's discuss misjudged fish!
for me it was a coral beauty angelfish, I've never really wanted one and thought that I would always opt for something like a flameback over them but eventually my lfs got a super super tiny one 1.3-1.5 inches at Max and I decided to pull the trigger on it and now it has grown up so much more and is one of my favorite fish in the tank, full of life fat and happy and thankfully reef safe

A monoargentis angel. I looked at it in a tank at the lfs for over a year, but I didn’t like it. To me, it looked like a freshwater fish, not something for a reef tank. And it never moved, just stayed in place. My wife saw it a few months ago, and had to have it.

Once it got into our tank, it underwent a complete personality change. Eight feet of swimming length and food every two hours- he is now the most active fish in the tank. He practically breaches the water like a shark to get the chunks of krill during feedings.

Multibanded pipefish. I always thought they needed a species only setup, but these particular pipefish are actually very capable of navigating a mixed reef tank and swimming against the flow. It's been one of my easiest additions! Nothing ever bullies it and it eats both pods and frozen foods (I did get it captive bred).

I vote lawnmower blennie as well. Kinda boring looking and not flashy at all. But I have found he has the best personality of everything in my tank. He loves to perch on rocks and stuff and when he sees me peering in he tends to poke his head out of holes in the rock to say hi. Constantly making my wife and I laugh while looking around in the tank.
