Welcome home Diana, worry about it tomorrow. Nothing is bad.Hi everyone! Back from Florida just a few hours ago. Came back to a messy looking sand. It looks like red and green cyano. The reactor is still off. I had placed it in storage before I left for FL. Number are around the same:
Kh 8.3
Mg 1350
Ca 440
PO4 0.25
NO3 25
Welcome home D! Don’t fret your tank is still young and this will happen. You know that. Your numbers look good ! If your interested I can tell you how to use the mini reactor as a gfo only tumbler if you feel you want to lower the pO4 a bitHi everyone! Back from Florida just a few hours ago. You can still mix the 2. I run carbon 24/7/365 for clarity, Oder and chemical remediation. Many don’t it’s a personal choice and I have always run it since I was a tiny Tony. As far as your P04 if your tank seems happy then 0.25 is just fine. Some people strive for 0.03. And a N03 of 10. Personally , I keep N03 between 50ppm and 25 ppm and P04 between 0.03 and 0.25 and my tank thrives.Should I keep running carbon? Are there any trade offs? Is it for just Oder?
And there is the proof that all tanks are different and there is no one recipe that works for all. In time you will find your tanks sweet spot.My previous tanks had always been around 0.03 and 10...not by choice but that is where it was happy. Acros had always thrived. I never had dinos then but now I am so afraid to keep it that low.
If I have time tomorrow, I will get the reactor from the garage and place it back into the sump with just carbon.
Carbon for odor I understand but what is chemical remediation? You can still mix the 2. I run carbon 24/7/365 for clarity, Oder and chemical remediation. Coral chemical warfare. In my case I have a lot of Palys (love em) and other airborne crap that might enter the tank. Again that’s just me and in no way is it a standard or a must do.Carbon for odor I understand but what is chemical remediation?
Anytime!Thanks Tony!
