Just had my fourth return pump rapid off/on cycle in 20 minutes. I pulled the plug out of the apex and now have it on the independent circuit.

I’m going to submit a help report tomorrow- this is getting beyond frustrating. I feel like every morning is a gamble on whether I’m going to find a half chopped up fish in my DT, kinda like what happened with Craig

It just crappy.
I was cleaning up and organizing in the fish room and I kept giving it the side-eye. I was 3 seconds away from boxing it all up a couple times. I mean- all its doing now is acting as a big expensive timer for my phyto and bbs lights, and auto refill of the main ATO from the RODI container.

Frustrated, to say the least

Spent the day blasting some newly hatched brine shrimp and white worms into the TTM3... amazing responses from all 3 fish.

So, just sitting doing the second Peroxide treatment, and about to load up TTM4. This little system I’ve got going on is working out very well. I turned off the air stone and heater to kill all flow, then harvested a bunch of BBS from the hatchery. I add them to start feeding, waited 10 minutes, then added peroxide to 150ppm. Ten minutes in, the BBS are still swimming around, eliciting a strong feeding response from all 3 fish. :)

I spent some time finalizing a couple things on the Smorgasbord. Did some volume calculations etc- and with the 3.5 gallon Copepod cultures I have, I’m probably going to be going through about a gallon of phyto a week just to feed one population. So I’m thinking I’ll have to run strict myself to on onevsoecies (Nannochloropsis) and do 3 x 4500ml cultures running concurrently. That gives me 1 gallon to harvest and the remainder will be seed for a 1:4 split.

I don’t think I’d have been able to pull off Tetraselmis at the same time anyway- temperature requirement for them is a lot lower than is typical for the fishroom so cultures would likely have struggled. I may set up a second phyto grow out for Tet in the other area, maybe above QT, but logistically that kinda a pain in the butt

Got my observation APEX controlled ATO installed. It used to never on the coral Qt when that was in the 20, but it had a 3D printed hook that worked on egg crate. Since I’m QTing jumpers, I made a different lid out of greenhouse panel cut offs that I have (make all my lids out of it- thinwall easyship panel 8mm). I also don’t have another spare 10g as ATO container, but I do have s bunch of 1g pretzel containers. Coincidentally,!large noose yoghurt pot lid fit perfectly- just cut a slash in it to pass cord and water line through. I fed the ATO line into the overflow box, since I didn’t like the fact I could see the rodi mixing with the tank water in the low flow area

Now- I’m thinking of picking up a super small Jabao powerhead like an ow10 for the some flow.

Once it comes up to temp, I’ll put some biospira in there for a semi- instant cycle, in anticipation of the guys graduating TTM 4 on Sunday!

Yay

Great updates Neil. I love following your adventure. Sorry I have not replied enough lately. I have had vertigo pretty bad. The scrolling makes it worse. I am seeing a physical therapist who specializes in vestibular disorders. So hopefully it will get better soon.
