We've been planning on adding a flame angel as our last fish since setting up the 40g breeder. Once the last 20lbs of tbs rock arrived, we started looking for one. Our local lfs just received an order, and several were available. A slow hr drip acclimation, and he was introduced...happily everyone welcomed him. Our daughter nicknamed him Fireball.. 20250412_094023.jpg 20250412_094021.jpg
I don't know why my camera makes the sand look covered in purple slime, just lighting

Congrats on your latest addition! Fireball loks like he'll fit right in.
Thanks ! We really needed a fish w color, and flames never disappoint. Next is coral he won't bother

Nice to see this fish still treasured by many . I have always loved them even though they are very common

Sadly he didn't make it. I suspect shipping stress, never would eat. We're planning to try another soon

Looking at the photo , he may have had velvet. Tough to know . Can’t tell if it was glass or actually on him

I have a pair and want to increase the harem to about 3females to 1male

A 40B is on the smaller side for these guys... they get pretty large. You might have better luck with a pygmy angel like a cherub or a flameback than a flame angel.

Thanks, we haven't decided yet on replacing him or looking at a different choice. The flameback could be the other option, pygmy is kinda drab. The blue would get washed out under lighting imo
