SCIENTIFIC NAME - Neocirrhites armatus

COMMON NAME - Flame Hawkfish

SIZE - 3.5" (9 cm)

MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE - 20 US Gal. (76 L)

FOODS AND FEEDING - Meaty marine fare for carnivores, crustacean flesh, Mysid shrimp, fresh / live and frozen preparations. Feed Daily.

REEF COMPATIBILITY - Will feed on feather duster worms, hermit crabs, snails, and ornamental shrimps.

CAPTIVE CARE - Will act aggressively towards other bottom dwelling fish. Will remove hermit crabs, limpets, turbo snails out of their shells to eat them, and will knock snails off of rock and glass to attack them. This is a curious Hawkfish with lots of personality, in a properly sized aquarium, well fed, it is a fun fish to watch. Keep only one per tank.

Mine liked to hide when the camera would come out. These guys will jump out if given the chance. I learned the hard way. :(
