I started using 200 micron mesh socks in tanks without the roller. They do a decent job and can be cleaned with a garden hose. I would go filter less if I had to go back to using felt socks lol.
+1 mesh socks are the holy grail if not using a reefmat. 5 seconds to clean in a bucket of water or laundry tub.

Red Sea Reefmat is stellar. Fleece is super easy to change, as is the whole unit for cleaning. I use about 14-17” daily, so i change the fleece around 2.5 months. The analytics are displayed on a nice app, so you can keep track if usage.
Fleece is a bit expensive compared to socks, but I like it.

I tried the Clarisea SK5000 and for me personally I'm not a fan.
It's painful to restock, ended up leaking (assuming I was running too high pressure?? - only using an M2 pump for memory). I also had issues with a faulty switch and the fact the alarm kept going off all the time because the water kept breaking through the sides and the water wouldn't toggle the switch within an 8 hour period.

Reefmat 1200 has been amazing. A LOT easier to change out rolls, and has been a bit of a set and forget item. Love it.

I have a reefmat 500 on my SPS tank and love it. Adding a 1200 to my 330g running socks is on my want to do list.

Hey Lucky, I ordered the same waterbox 230.6. Was yours on backorder when you ordered yours? Mine originally said that it was to ship by August 31st but now they are saying they are unsure and dont have have a ship window/date as yet. Curious to see what others have experienced.
I am in the same boat.. ordered when they had 15% discount.. originally they said will ship by 31st, but no news thus far.. kinda making me restless now! Offering discounts while not being able to handle the order volumes is cheap marketing strategy IMO
Yea I wasn't too happy about that myself when I saw it being on sale for 15% off while I paid a higher price almost two months prior. And they're not even in stock. I did email them about it and they did credit me the 15% which I was very happy about! To keep in mind that most aquariums especially of that size is not something that is generally kept in stock. I know most manufacturers have at least a 2-3 month turn around. Redsea does, Innovative Marine usually does but they currently are overstocked. I think Amazon has definitely changed our expectations the we wait for packages lol You won't be disappointed, I can guarantee you that! It just gives you more time to get your supplies together. What are you upgrading from? Assuming you're upgrading from something.
Actually it’s my first 🫣 hence double the excitement.. will be visiting this forum more often once it arrives and I am all set to get rolling
Oh awesome man!!! Well welcome to the hobby. Wow you jumped right in huh! Lol

Hah you make some great points for sure.. in this age of the internet, we’ve become used to instant gratification.

Im upgrading from a 4 foot Pro Clear tank.. was my first tank getting into the hobby. Think I went the way that a lot Of us did.. started out in 2020 wanting a fish only, then graduated to softies, then LPS for movement, now here we are with a mixed reef lol.

I currently have aptasia in my current tank so I and not transferring anything but I did put a bucket with ceramic media, bacteria & frozen food to cook until the new tank is here.

I’m also using this weekend to leverage any deals on equipment.. I had some subpar equipment when I got started to now.
Yea, I'm, sure you can find some pretty good deals. Kinda late in the "weekend" but if you have any questions about equipment I have been reaping since 2004 and have definitely had my fair share of experience with different manufacturers . I definitely have come to like certain brands over others. Not sure what you're using for lighting but I'm getting mine set up right now. Full custom fixture but using Reefi Unos and Quanta Helix bars. Sick combo and very inexpensive comparatively.

I have the RS 1200 on my WB 330.7 and love it. It integrates well into my plumbing, has zero issues and I order the cheaper rolls that come out to a 1/3 of what RS charges.

Thanks!

I’m planning on purchasing the following;
• Redsea reefmat 1500
• 3x Radion Pro XR15
• Redsea skimmer?? - debating.. I like refi to but not the prices!

Currently have 2x MP40 & 2x gyres for flow. For lighting may upgrade in the future to add on lightstrips for full coverage.

I’ve heard of those brands for lighting but don’t have any experience.. I’d say I chose mine based on popularity and what I see a lot of serious folks using but am definitely open. This will also be my first dabble into SPS.. have softies n LPS which are doing great once I figured out my Ph issue.. went from 7.7 to 8.3 by running a skimmer line outdoors then adding recirculating CO2 media.
