Hi everyone!

If you've followed my page for a little while, you probably know I started with a small red mangrove project. That eventually led me to this little 10-gallon tank and a new idea inspired by Florida's estuaries.

The goal is a simple, low-tech planted aquarium. The driftwood was collected after it floated into my backyard during high water, and while I was out on the river recently, I found some native pennywort, duckweed, and horsetail reed that have helped shape the direction of this build.

Aquarium | UNS 10 Gallon

Lighting | Chihiros WRGB II Slim 45

Filtration | Sponge Filter • NICREW Nano Silent Air Pump

Substrate | UNS Controsoil (hidden planting layer) • UNS Controsand Bora

Root Nutrition | Aquario Neo Plants Tab SOLID

Planting | Eleocharis vivipara • Sagittaria subulata • Horsetail Reed • Pennywort • Duckweed

The plan is to keep everything low-tech and let the aquarium mature naturally. Once the plants are established and the tank has fully cycled with stable water parameters, I'd love to possibly add a small colony of Cherry Shrimp, and group of Bluefin Killifish!

I'd really love to hear your thoughts before I get everything planted. If you have any suggestions for a Florida estuary-inspired setup, I'd love to hear them!

Looking forward to sharing the progress as it grows.

Supercool setup. Can't wait to see it mature.

What area of Florida? I'm sure southern Florida estuaries are slightly different than northern ones.

Thank you! Northeast Florida. The driftwood washed into my backyard, and the pennywort, duckweed, and horsetail were all collected along riverbanks here. It's definitely not a strict biotope, but I'm trying to keep it rooted in what I see locally!
