I just hooked up a 15 watt Aqua Ultaviolet on my 80 Gal reef to help eliminate dinoflagilates and I used 1/2 hose with a Neptune flow meter and a pump that can pump 500 Gal per hour and I’m only getting 150 Gal per hour.
Will this be enough to eliminate the dinos or will it just take longer ?

Use a 5 gal bucket and measure how long it takes to fill up. Figure your actual GPH.
I just did one Gal and it was only 140 g per hour. I redid the plumbing to 3/4 inch and now I’m getting 350 Gal per hour.
To bad Neptune doesn’t make a 3/4 flow meter

I don’t think the 1/2 sensor is rated for 500 g/h. I think it’s up to 250.

Looking at Aqua UV sizing chart you will get higher dose of radiation and since according to many sources dinoflagellates multiply only once every day or so, it will be more than enough to kill them. However you might also kill other organism. What is the importance of that for reef aquarium, I am not sure.
