So I added HD Reef flux to my 20 gallon reef to get rid of bryopsis. I did the recommended dose on the bottle which is 1 capsule per 10 gallon. I did 1.5 capsules for a 20 gallon. Within the first hour of adding it, all of my corals were stressed and retracted. I am now day three after adding it in and i have lost multiple astrea snails. My ammonia was elevated within the first few hours of adding it. They were normal before. Large piles of dead copepods are collecting in low flow areas. I performed a large water change. My 2 clowns are stressed out. Any one have any experience like this?

I micro dosed it. It worked great. I had zero adverse effects. Maybe read about that. In the meantime I’d do some large water changes and add carbon. Probably need some extra aeration too.

I might try micro dosing it. I have added an air stone and carbon. I don't understand the huge ammonia spike in a couple hours. It would make sence after 3 days maybe.

How much did you dose per gallon when micro dosing?
It was in my old 60g, if I remember correctly it was half of one capsule. I had bryopsis and some other algae that nothing would eat. The micro dose worked pretty quick. There are a couple videos about it on YouTube. I don’t recall who made them. But one was an sps tank that told how much he used.

Same here. I put one capsule in a 13 gallon reef and all coral has retracted, the water looks cloudy, the Clownfish looks very stressed. This happened the next morning. I fear there will be losses from this. Never again.

Yeah, i don't trust the stuff. Has it killed anything in your tank? I did a big water change and added carbon because everything was stressed and snails were dying left and right.

I dosed a few days ago at 2/3 the rate recommended. Within an hour or two all the corals in my tank closed up, all fish severely stressed and one dead. Killed off all my snails and bleached all the corals.

I saw a couple other recent posts in other forums with similar bad experiences. Something is off.

I dosed about 3/4 of the recommended dose and lost a bunch of snails and my torch flesh band has receded. I through in carbon and put on the skimmer on the third day and things are looking better. This stuff makes no sense people swear by it and have no problems. I was only dosing it to fight byropsis because i cannot stop it from spreading. What type of corals did you have? It only seemed to stress my lps.

Just did the 4x recommended dose to kill bubble algae and my tank is now looking bad. Many corals closed and fish hiding.

I’ve added carbon, upped my skimmer, and added an air stone.

This was all an hour after adding.

Not sure how so many people found success with this and at this dose but be warned. Hopefully nothing dies…
