Why don't we use fluidized Sand beds. I have been told they can become nitrate factories. But since there is so much surface area that is moving if you dosed a carbon source to feed the bacteria would that not be a great setup. You tumble zeo to a sheer if the bacteria that accumulates to get it into the water and prevent anaerobic bacteria growth (as I understand it). I seems like it would work well. Thoughts?
