Hi all,
I have several fish in QT now for 3.5 weeks on 2/11 i noticed some fish had flukes and i treated with prazi. i dosed 25ml for 100 gallons. then on 2/17 i did a 20% water change and added prazipro again at the same dosage. today 2/20 i noticed some scratching a i did a freshwater dip to confirm flukes still on a couple fish.

seeking advice.

thanks in advance.

I would continue to treat with prazi and perform FW dips every 3-5 days. This is the method I use with no issues. If the flukes were really bad I would add paraguard to the FW dips which has been really effective for me.

I read somewhere, of course I cannot find it now, that for persistent flukes you can treat 3 days apart with no water change between doses.
I had to do this once when the treatments at 5 to 7 days apart did not work. For me two treatments 3 days apart worked.
Make sure no carbon is running while treating and make sure to add an air stone to counteract the oxygen depletion by Prazi.

do a 3rd treatment? how far apart? is my dosage good?
I usually do 4 treatments when I QT, roughly every 5-6 days with 20% water changes in between. Treat 5ml per 20 gal. No carbon or UV during treatment. From my understanding the prazi starts to break down in the first 24-48 hours due to filtration.

i should menton, i have coppersafe still in the system
I've heard of copper/prazi treaments together without any issues. I would recommend against it. Incase any fish are sensitive to both treatments. Not to mention causing a disruption in the good bacteria in your QT tank. Usually resulting in cyanno.

You may have Neobenedenia sp. monogeneans (AKA "skin flukes"). They can be resistant to prazi treatments. Hyposalinity for 5 days @ <15ppt (< SG 1.011) is the recommended treatment. This will kill all life stages, including eggs.

^^ This

Two formalin baths, 1 week apart, followed by transfer into a sterile QT after each bath is the other alternative: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/formalin.290925/

Agreed. I would do the formalin dips personally, simply because it can be difficult to execute hypo correctly for a length of time.
