Greetings reefers :)

Wanted to start a small build thread for my Evo 13.5 rebuild. The tank has been down for a few months after running six months prior.

I am starting with a simple DIY wooden stand made of 2x4's. I will then stain the stand black.

Currently planning on adding a Hipagero 30W LED, as I plan the tank to be FOWLR.

Eheim Compaction for return pump.

Standard Aqueon mini heater most likely, as without an ato, I do not want to risk a large heater running dry.

Planning to run bear bottom for a crisp, clean look on the Evo.

Carbon will be the only filtration media.

Cycling with Seachem's Stability.

Stock will simply be my pair of True Perc Clownfish.

More to come as the work begins. Thanks for reading & happy reefing!

I have never heard of a carbon only tank. Lots of rock then for the biological filtration? Interested to see how this pans out. Good luck! I will definitely peek in. Good call on the pump upgrade the stock pump is surprisingly weak.

Update: 20lbs of Carib Sea Base Rock ordered. P.S. if you need base rock, pet smart currently has it $2 per pound online. Far better than the $4-5 a pound stuff locally.

I should add, this is 100% a budget build. I am a college student living at home due to covid, and I currently also have a 29 gallon + 20 gallon sump softie/lps dominant reef as well. I am looking to shave by as cheaply as possible, lol.

I would also like to use this thread to show that you don't have to spend a boat load of money to have an elegant marine setup. :)
