Who does automatic water changes?

Thank you.

I use Apex and DOS to auto change 1.5 gallons per day on my Reefer XL 425. Works great.

Following. Got a ATK for my Apex so I am looking forward to getting this set up pronto!

ATK is typically used just to add fresh water due to evaporation, not to remove and add saltwater.

Strictly speaking I am not doing “automatic water changes” but I am running my skimmer wet and so doing continuous or 1% daily water changes.

Strictly speaking, water changes can range from episodic all the way to continuous. Then there are the mechanics of water changes handcrafted or automated, which I think you want to focus your article. Most folks slosh the water by hand, possibly coupling with sand vacuuming, others use pumps and controllers. Maybe you can mention these dimensions in the article introduction before focusing in on automation. I am toying with automatic water replacement for wet skimming, but I am still in the kludgy phase :-)

I use a Litermeter lll to change about a gallon a day on my 80 gallon tank. It breaks it up into small increments throughout the day. Very happy with this set up. I’m about to set up another tank with the same system.

I also use litremeter III. I work on 10% weekly water changes now. Just set how you you want to change a day and it's done. Such a easy unit to use

Okay, folks. Now who wants to write an article about automatic water changes, and how your equipment works including every little detail?

@horsefarm5 @ca1ore @Thales @Dlealrious @surlytx @hbrochs @WWIII and @SuncrestReef I already asked. Yes, @Dan_P there's already an article in the works by a forum member detailing the science behind water changing and another shorter FAQ. But this is a different animal, and most of those who don't have the equipment don't have a good understanding of how it works.

Me as well. I do daily 1% AWC using my liter meter 3 on my 180 gallon tank. I have a salt water storage tank of 105 gallons. I started doing this last summer after 25 years of reefing. Why did I wait?

Im just down right lazy....30 gal a month .......make nsw every 3 weeks. . Set it and forget it.
My rodi has a 2way valve and makes 75gpd. 2 brute cans one for ato and other for daily water change. Bought a 3 headed pump from someone on here and is awesome. I only use 2 of the pumps. Hooked ho to apex to run 75 min.... pumps 1gal. Love it

I can if you'd like. I've used a few different approaches over time that didn't involve dosing pumps.
