Just put in a cheap frag of plating monti into my reef today, but I forgot to rinse it off after dipping it with CoralRX. The DT’s capacity is 80gals and I run mostly biological filtration with a skimmer and lots of carbon, and I have mostly softies. Is this going to kill something or will the animals be ok?

I think more than likely you will be fine. You only added a TINY amount into 80 gallons. I would run carbon if not already though, just in case.

I am sure I have forgot to wash a frag or two after a dip if that makes you feel better haha

The small head on my hammer did shrink a lot after I put my hand in… but that specific animal is really stingy to begin with so I’ll take your word for it.

On another note, does anyone know what an open montipora looks like? I want to figure out when my frag is happy with the lighting so I can glue it somewhere permanent.

You should see polyps extending out of the "pores", and the skeleton should be colored up.

I think you should be fine. I have forgot to rinse mine off before and I have had no problems.

Really you've had no problems? HMM....
with corals that I forgot to rinse dip off yes

Forgot to rinse of Duncan coral and over the last month and a half it has grown a new head and looks amazing

I have had 2 corals that have not done well one BJD and one bacterial infection

It seems like everything I say you have to make a comment. Maybe next just don’t say anything

Sometimes I purposefully don’t rinse… if iodine dip- it goes right back in without a rinse. Totally fine not rinsing- the rinse is more so that you get any bad guys off that are stunned but not dead.

Why no rinse on the iodine? Never used it before. Can you just dose iodine into tank)

You can dose it (and I do) but with EXTREME care. I don’t rinse it because it is protecting the coral from bacteria. Also I read it makes the coral unpalatable if someone has been chomping on it.

I'm not the one with an everyday emergency, then pretending after hours to know what I'm talking about. I commented because you have no business handing out anything. Don't you have school in the morning?

try to stop those emergencies. I don’t know what I am talking about but was just telling him that the corals that dipped and did not rinse after are doing great 2 month later and probably shouldn’t be a problem am I worng? No school tomorrow Jewish holiday!!!
