Just bought one this Saturday and am keeping a close eye to ensure that he eats and not getting bullied by its older tank mates. Am feeding frequently various types of flakes and frozen. Just letting him choose what he prefers. I suppose that a quiet, isolated and dim environment would be the best for yours. Hope it gets better.

Id say swimming room and greens/algae as they are herbivores

I have had mine for four month's, he is the biggest chicken in the tank, unless someone else is eating off his algae clip.

What's the chance of one of these bothering a clam?

Low from what I have seen. They are listed "reef safe with caution", so there is always a chance. I have my Magnificent in my 125 with an "ultra" blue maxima, but the clam has only been in the tank for a couple months. No issues yet though.
