Either break the rock or place a smaller rock next to them and let them grow onto it.

Or just cut off their foot or rip them off. Any left over tissue well make a new one.

Sent from somewhere using something.

If it’s big enough you can generally trim pieces off and let the mushroom continue to grow. If it’s new to your tank, make sure it’s healthy and growing before you start trimming it up.

There are several different ways to frag mushrooms, most of which work well. By far, the easiest and least stressful is to chip away a lil' rock from under the mushroom. This way, the mushroom is already attached to a small piece of rubble, which will keep it from getting blown away. You can also cut the mushroom off of the rock, using a razor. If you do this, it's best to then place the mushroom in a shallow tupperware dish, with some sand in it, for the mushroom to attach to. Sometimes, you may need to cover the tupperware dish with bridal veil to protect the mushroom from flow. It's also possible to actually cut an entire mushroom into several pieces. You cut across the mushroom, similar to cutting a pizza, trying to cut through the mouth with each cut. Using the tupperware dish with bridal veil will be helpful with this as well.

Hey Ray72484,
Have you tried your first frag yet?

And Pierre, dkerns06
I have heard that a dozen times over the years. And I've always wanted to try it. I know small pieces will work, but I just cannot bring myself to throwing one in a blender. It reminds me of the old SNL Bass-O-Matic skit.

My question is how do you know if you glued them right

I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?23eehv

Ray I have tried many methods, if you get a piece of the foot and a nice piece of rock with it and glue the rock onto another rock, put it in a very low flow area it should work.

Just let the shroom settle into your tank, i.e. Let it be in your tank for 3 months before cutting in order to ensure it is healthy and better chance for both mother and frags to survive.

An additional method to use is a toothpick throught the frag and into the rock you have glued it onto.

If the shroom is nice and big you can just cut a edge of the shroom off, no glue, just put it in a ventilated tube, very low flow area, a bit of rubble and let it attach to a piece of rubble, then glue into place. Somthing like this.

this is what I use for a few rics that I fragged.

A local reefer has done it, was last week sometime, not sure of the outcome but when I chat to him or see his tank I will report back. Happy fragging.

Well our LFS got stock in last night and the reefer that blended his shroom said he can see about 30 blue shrooms growing all over his tank. So it works.

That is so cool. Thanks Pierre.
I bet a bunch of people will be doing the same thing after hearing that.
