Honestly the freshwater side is simple and usually has a much higher success rate. I just picked up a red tailed black shark and what was sold to me as a geophagus brasiliensis.

I hope the glare is not too bad.

You can make a freshwater tank just as "complicated" as a reef tank, especially if you're going the high tech planted route.. but I love my planted tank just as much as my reefs. Saltwater a has a larger variety of colors available, so it's obviously visually stunning.. but I also love the green (and reds / oranges) of a nice planted tank.. it's like a garden in the home. I also like being able to keep schools of smaller fish, which isn't really as easy to do in a saltwater tank.

I think it is possible to keep a bunch of smaller fish in saltwater I forget which rainbowfish species but there is one that can do great in saltwater I think inappropriate reefer has them now.

Definitely possible, there's just many more options available in freshwater.

Absolutely more options. Plus most people have mixed success with chromis and anthias.

Thats because the vast majority of FW fish are captive raised in farms.
