Fritz RPM Mixing Question

Sorry for the silly question, I'm a newb...

Fritz directions say to mix the salt at 70-74 degrees to your desired salinity. Mix for a while and then bring it up to temperature. The question is, what happens if the salinity drops when brought up to temp? If I mix at 70, and then bring the water up to 79, won't that decrease the salinity?

I mixed my first batch at 79 degrees and my elements are all very high at 1.025. I'm using a refractometer calibrated using AccuraSea calibration solution. Appreciate any feedback!

Yup, but I don't bother checking salinity after I've mixed it in a bucket so I couldn't say how much it's changed.

Is your refractometer automatic temperature compensating?

I use Fritz RPM Blue and to be honest, never paid attention to the mix directions. I place my water in a 20g Brute can, put a Jebao SOW-8 set to max at the bottom, heat the water to 76 degrees, and put in a half cup per gallon. Then I fine tune the remaining amount and test with a Milwaukee MA887 digital refractometer to 35ppt/1.026SG

Have you tested alkalinity doing it this way? Mine tested over 12. Magnesium tested over 1500. Salifert tests. It’s likely my error so I’m making a new batch, but it’s driving me crazy because I want to figure out what I did wrong.

Oh, not a temp compensating refractometer. Just a standard one.
