So I’ve had this frogspawn since RAP2016 when I got it as a single head. As of the past 2 weeks, I’ve noticed it’s heads aren’t inflating like they used too and some of the tissue leading up to the polyp has receded. I’ve also been fighting dinos so I’ve been doseing nitrite and phosphate. I don’t think either have contributed as an issue as both are still very low(both around 1-2ppm) The other issue may be pH, which today read at 7.6 rather than my usual 8.4.
Other levels are:
Nitrate- 2ppm
Alk- 7dkh
Mag-1400ppm
Cal-450ppm
Light is a Radion G4 running AB+ program @ 36% and two kessil a160s less than 30% intensity
I did also move it down a bit yesterday to try and give it more growing room and make it easier to remove, but that didn’t seem to upset it too much. I may end up trying a dip in coral disinfectant later this week if nothing changes. I did also lose some monties about a week ago. That I believe was a slight over dosage of neophos, but since all has stabilized. Nothing else looks upset or unhappy. Thinking it may be the pH? Any thoughts are appreciated!

Thank you! This colony's one of my favorite pieces and has come back from much worse past events so hoping it will pull through this little bump!

Planning to try a 5gal WC today to remove anything that could possibly be bugging it as well as add some carbon. It will bring my nitrite & phos down, but both have been lower prior to this with zero issues so I think it's worth a shot. If that doesn't work, I'll give it 2-3 days and try a disinfectant dip.

Thinking it may be a bacterial issue. i dipped a frag of the same colony in some disinfectant yesterday and that piece looks like the polyps did before. planning to dip the whole colony shortly and will update with final results

Yeah I know it's low. I've been trying to get it up, but then that's when things started with the frog so I stopped. That being said, alk has pretty much always been at that lvl without issues with lps, but wanted to raise it to try and start getting some better growth out of my sps.

Inspect the base for pests, there’s a euphillia eating flatworm that has been know for go undetected until tissue recession . Other than that I’d watch ur Ph, and don’t jump through hoops. Remember it’s nature and things happen , and things close up for a few days then open up again after splitting

Thanks for the update! Glad you figured it out.

What dip did you use and how did you do it?

I used Seachem's reef dip, 1gal. dosage and just a 30 min treatment + a planned follow up treatment this weekend (same treatment, just doing it a second time to make sure nothing is leftover)
