I have had this guy for a good 5-6mths and it was a tiny half inch brown frag. I always thought it had potential but it has really taken me by surprise as now its a cream base with brown/tan polyps and the tips have turned yellow and now its getting some blue pe out of the tips. I think this one could turn out pretty nice. Daylight shot

It can take that long for a browned out coral to turn around and become a nice piece.

Good to know. I have some browned out pieces myself, and have been wondering.

That's one of the things I love about this hobby. You can go buy a bleached or browned out frag for very cheap and see what it turns into. Here are a couple that I have.

Very nice! Yep, the shortcake is one of the craziest transitions i've seen from browned out to gorgeous.

It's funny because I was talking to the guy at the LFS. Asked if he had SPS that was blue. He took me to his $5 frags and pointed this one out. It did look to have blue on the tips. This pic is from about a 2 months after I purchased it and I was very surprised at the colors that were coming out.

Purchased this as a browned out $25 mariculture but saw some potential. I didn't think it would become a red base with long green PE though : )
