Frozen food prep

The frozen fish food I use is mysis, brine shrimp and reef frenzy. The mysis and brine shrimp in cubes, the reef frenzy in a frozen flat. If I cut all the cubes in half, then cut up the flat into little pieces, and put it all in one ziplock bag back in the freezer, will it "last" same as in the individual cubes? Looking for a more daily convenience since I dont have enough fish to feed whole cubes at once. I'm assuming this will be fine and not get freezer burn or degrade the food quality? Thanks

Should be fine. I buy PE mysis in the 40oz flat packs and cut large chunks off then cut them into single serving sizes and it's worked fine for years.

Glad to hear, cutting portions up each feeding each day is not super convenient. While on the topic, do any of you thaw the daily feeding amount in aquarium water, keep it in fridge and feed sporadically throughout the day? I can't imagine the the thawed food would go bad in one day? I only ask because after I added a flasher wrasse did I learn that it's better to feed them multiple times a day. I guess I should have researched that part of the wrasse better before buying lol

I thought I read somewhere that seafood will start to go bad after a few hours in the fridge. I think you could probably do a day or two with the food still being okay.

I break up flats for convenience. You can thaw it in water and keep it in the fridge if you want, some like to drain off the fines but I don't. I use it within a day or so at most. If I leave it till the next day it doesn't smell bad to me and the fish eat it the same as if it were fresh thawed. You can feed multiple times throughout the day if you've got that kind of time, I feed nori and a bit of frozen in the morning, and then all frozen at night, my fish grow and have no health issues so I assume they're getting what they need.

I thaw mine in a small Tupperware container. No water I just let it thaw naturally or float the container in warm water if I'm running behind. I only add water when I feed so my naso doesn't get the big chunk of food all to herself. I keep it in the fridge and feed throughout the day. More often than not I'll keep it in the fridge overnight so I'm ready to feed first thing then I'll thaw more. I've been doing it like that for years and never had a problem.

Thanks all. I'll thaw the daily amount in a cup and keep it in the fridge too. I figured if I buy fresh raw shrimp for my own consumption I have no issue keeping them in the fridge that day and eating them that night.
