Fuge-Lite Algae Grow-Off!

My Flame Algae does extremely well under reef lighting 12-20K.
I have never had any measurable growth under fuge lighting 5000-6500k

Just wanted you to know my experience. I'd hate for your fixture to get less than desirable results simply because of wrong temp of the bulbs.
I think your experiment would better serve the fixture if you tested growth of the green stuff...Cheato, Calurpa and maybe even mangroves.

5000k and 6500k do not apply to the Fuge-Lite series, it is a combo of 660nm red and 450nm royal blue in a 5:1 ratio. From my research, I have found that 660nm reds grow a LOT of red algae, the blues are there to grow the green algae as well, in theory, so I wanted to test its effectiveness. I know it works on green algae, my chaeto is going crazy, as is my ats.

The light is awesome! It'll be worth it to me just to avoid the hassle of changing bulbs every 3 months.

I have heard that LEDs of that spectral ratio will work very well with mangroves, or most plants for that matter.

I am already seeing great growth on my ats with these, and the algae in my DT is disappearing as well, so that is another use to consider!

We got about 1/4" to 1/2" of length, and it got bushier.

We have a shipment coming in less than 2 weeks, with the first new tank-clip, which will allow for tank rim mounting of the fuge-lite PAR38 bulbs!
