Fungia baby?

Noticed what looks like a tiny mini Fungia next to my orange plate this morning, sorry for picture quality but lights were still ramping up. I trust I just treat it the same as the 'mother' plate?

Are the offspring clones of the original or can they reproduce asexual and sexual? There is another plate (green) next to it.

that also looks like a nudibranch or however its spelled out .. or may be something else, plates multiply either sexually which is very unlikely in the reef or they multiply by dying and growing babies on the skeleton

It's not a nudi (phew) it got a little flat skeleton base and is round.

It's my crummy camera under the ai sol washing out the colours, tried to get a better photo turning a kessil on over the top but still rubbish photo. Think I need to buy a camera.

It sure could be but the tentacles seem a little long?

It's not an uncommon occurrence, very cool though.

Keep an eye on it, when the tentacles retract you should be able to see the skeletal disk under the tissue.

I believe plate coral have the capacity for asexual reproduction via budding off daughter colonies. If there is a similar plate skeleton and polyps, that would be my guess.

It looks like what happened with mine I got one on a piece of zoanthid Rock and thought it was a piece of GSP it states mall for a very long time and now it's grown into a monster I'll send a pic when I get home

It's in the same spot still, looks like a tiny duplicate of the original mother. Very exciting!

If your going to move it be very careful skeletons very fragile.
Here's a before and after I found. It was a lot smaller when I first got it but when I found out it was a plate coral I decided 2 document its growth

Well cute! 99% sure mines a baby plate now, hopefully it will be gorgeous orange with blue tips like its mother.

It very well could be, I have only had a plate die and reproduce babies after its death.

My plate looks fine, far as I can tell. She ate day before yesterday and was speedy to gobble her krill.

Hopefully she remains so!
