Funny Bicolor Blenny Story

So this bicolor blenny was the second saltwater fish added to my tank, and immediately he found a hole in my LR which he has called home ever since (even through a scary moving process). It is next to impossible to get him out if I want to, keep this in mind.

I was watching my tank earlier just after feeding, he was swimming around normally like he does during the day. After he ate he rested on this portion of rock he also frequents. Next I see him swim to his hole. All the sudden I saw my emerald crab doing the wave at him, then noticed the emerald is in the blenny’s cave! The blenny did not take well to this, I’ve never seen a glimmer of aggression from this fish but he constantly charged into the cave and bit at the emerald crab! I don’t think there was a way out and the crab went further in, eventually far enough for the blenny to go in. I guess the emerald made him mad again because he shot out and started attacking again! Eventually the blenny left him alone for a bit and the crab ran out of the cave faster than I’ve ever seen it move before.

Anyway the blenny is happy to have his cave back, and the emerald is probably happy to be done with the blenny-torture he had just endured.

I felt bad for the crab but thought this was a funny story I had to share, I’ve never seen that before.

love my Bicolor Blenny. Very funny fish. He is a ******* and chases others around, has nipped at my purple Monti. He also has been known to bite me.

Ours is quite a character also, but what bicolor isn't, really? If he's in a mood, and he usually is, nobody gets near his hole. Even snails get a quick trip to the sand bed if they get too close.
