I ran in to another issue. There is a gap between the the middle on the side of the tank. The corners are all resting on the stand. Just that one section has a gap. I purchased a sheet of 3/4” plywood and placed it on top. Question is what do I place between the gap and the plywood?

You can shim it, but I would guts that the 3/4" plywood is sufficient without the shims. But, I'm also assuming you're only talking about a gap of 1/8" or so.
Normally the gap is fixed with a layer of polystyrene(the one used on building) between the plywood sheet and the aquarium. Like you see it on the next pictures, there was a gap between the glass and the wood(shown with the A4 paper going in between) then there is a picture of the polystyrene used.. And then you can see the aquarium resting on the polystyrene which also rests on the wood.

How big is the gap? Photos?
If I understand correctly, the short dimension (side) of the tank has the gap - not the long front or back span, right?

For the short span it probably won't make much difference, assuming that it is otherwise perfectly flat and level. But it still feels better to get it just right. Over correcting and creating a high point would be worse though.
