I have a german blue polyp for 3 yrs now with steady growth and decent color. But I had a few recent issues that is now hurting this prized acro. Last month I broke my calcium reator so it was shut down for 12hrs, then last week the Hirricane hit leaving me with out power but I was back up and running with in a few hours on my generator.
I noticed a few white areas on the base of this acro a few days ago. The area's are getting larger and Im afraid of losing the whole piece. I cant get it off the rock because its incrusted. I really dont want to clip it because it would ruin the look but if I dont I could lose it. Should I clip it close to the base and dip it? This really sucks but Its the hobby of course

i would frag it. 2 pieces are better than 1. Then if it keeps STN'ing up the base to the "trunk" of the colony i would cut the whole colony at the "trunk".

Do you have a picture?

Typically RTN is pretty quick and does it's thing then it's over. Are the white patches still increase in size?

Bill I agree with the other posters, frag a nice chunk off a healthy branch and at least have a back-up frag..the alk prolly swung during the breakdown, enough to stress it and start this process going

well just cut it, was able to get it right at the base, 85 percent of the base is colored and alive, If the base dyes and the frag lives I will re glue it on the dead base, but I will wait a few weeks
