Getting started! 25 lagoon versus Cube

So stuck on this, figured i'd ask the best place for advice!

I love the look so much of the lagoon giving the foot print bigger than just the taller plain janes.

My question is.. what do you all think about mechanical filtering of either of these tanks.
Is there pros and cons to each style ?

I have the IM 25 Lagoon ad I really like the dimensions. I don't think there's any difference in mechanical filtration strategies between a 25 lagoon and a 25 cube. Some use mechanical filtration, and others do not, that's a personal choice

Do you ever have issues with corals growing to tall or anemones?

I have the Lagoon 25 as well. I haven’t had any height problems, yet. But, I started it off as mainly a softie and LPS tank.

I just added an Anacropora and a Digi a few weeks ago. They seem to be doing ok so far, although surprisingly the Digi had to be put lower in the tank because it started to bleach, so I doubt I’ll have a height problem with it, but I think I might with the Anacropora.

I think the height of the system does seem to be better for a single coral system, and may not lend itself well to a mixed reef based on where I am with it. I am going to likely have to decide if I want to move some of my LPS and soft corals or move the Anacropora to a different tank if it grows too much.

Oh, as for the filtration I did purchase a media box for one side to add in some carbon, and on the other side I have just the filter sock and a nano skimmer. So far, this set up works perfect for me, I haven’t had any problems.

Same. So much happier with lagoon
