Gfo, carbon, and dinos

180g Tank is still relatively new. 6 weeks old, started with cured LR from existing system and 180lbs of new live sand. All fish and corals were transferred from a tank that had dinos. Nitrate 0.12, PO4 0.6, Alk 8.3, all with Hanna meters. Dosing microbacter7, skimming heavy and running UV and reefmat. Should i be running GFO and Carbon? Corals and fish all look fine. Any suggestions?

Yes sir I do see them. It’s not a ridiculous amount…but definitely there.

26 years in reefing and I’ve never had dinos. Long slimy stringy. I’ve had all the other nasties. I know there is the expected diatom bloom as part of the cycling phase but was hoping to skip that since it was all from cured sources. Open to all input folks. And thank you to RHF…legendary knowledge.

I have a Tunze Chaeto reactor sitting in the box I could add, don’t think that will help with my Dinos issue though. I ordered a bunch of different pods after reading that they eat diatoms, but no clue if they will eat dinos. I’m guessing patience is going to be key but I’m hoping for guidance here. Thanks in advance,

It’s unlikely to make a difference, but I’d hold off in GFO so that it isn’t supplying iron. Maybe GAC too for a short while.
