Gfo changing schedule

Hi everyone just wondering how often I should change my Gfo? I've been doing it once a month my lfs told me once every three months. Who is right? Thanks

I change GFO and carbon monthly.

Same here I do it monthly, but if I have time by the 3rd week I'd change it. If not I will do it by the 4th week for sure.

I would say it depends on how high your phosphates are. If they are really high you will need to change it faster. I just hooked mine up to my new tank and it "ran out" in two weeks. If its close to zero or at zero you might not have to change it for a long time. That being said, I do not know if they lose their absorbing properties being in water, even when it has zero phosphates.

I usually change mine when I have to clean my glass a day earlier than normal. Usually varies.

I test the output of my reactor and as long as that's equal to or less than my desired level I leave it alone. No sense in changing it if you don't have to.
