I wouldn't think so. Probably just chilling under there until the nem closes up for the night and then he'll move. If the nem doesn't look upset I wouldn't be concerned :)

Nem needs to be treated with Cipro asap. That's a textbook pancaked Gig.

ETA-- snail isn't an issue

he was really big all day..then went like that late afternoon.. i'll check on him tomorrow morning when i get back to the office

A healthy Gig will shrink down at night but the only time they will deflate or pancake is if they have a bacterial infection. It will die if you don't pull and treat.

That Cipro isn't an over the counter drug here in Ontario......

Try searching Ebay for "Fish Flox".

so is there enough time to get the stuff and treat... and how to treat never had a Nem before

Time is of the essence. If there is a local reef club you may want to see if anyone has some they can spare. Long shot would be to check the LFS. For future reference it’s best to have cipro on hand before getting a Gig or Mag as the overwhelming majority will need to be treated.

Treating isn’t particularly difficult but there is a learning curve when it comes to gauging the nems reaction. There is a sticky outlining treatment above titled “how I cipro”

That guy looks like it needs Cipro, but more so, the flow is way, way, way too low. Needs much, much much higher flow. If you don’t greatly improve the flow, it’s a goner no matter cipro or not. That is, as D-Nak calls it, floppy pancake. Death is close by.

Yes, definitely a floppy pancake. It'll most likely be dead in a few days if not treated ASAP.

On a side note, how old is the tank? It looks relatively new.
