Hey folks,

So I have a new tank coming.

I am downsizing due to gf moving in and prices and costs of living etc etc.

Either way, in my current set up I have some live rock with tons of different kinds of sponge and life and it's awesome. BUT, there is glass ball anemones on them. Basically completely clear anemones with tentacles that have white tips. I've attached two pics. The original and one circling around some of them. There is tons of tiny ones all over the rock in my sump.

Anyways, I am curious, I would love to keep this rock as it is very mature. But I would like to limit the amount of hitchhiker's etc. And this tank has aiptasia and these glass ball nems, but I also don't want to start over completely since I've just gotten to a point where my tank is aged enough and growing coral and some birds nest.

Are these glass ball anemones bad? Are they dangerous? Can they kill fish? Corals? Please let me know if you think I should start over or keep these rock.

Thanks!

potentially

Pseudocorynactis caribbeorum

Species of corallimorph "white ball anemone". Very sticky tentacles and very adept at catching prey more so than some anemones but is in fact a mushroom.

So would you say it is safer to go brand new?

As far as I know this species stays fairly small, It may be able to catch small inverts at full size like sexy shrimp or baby hermits but even most small fish should be fine, furthermore it is unlikely to bother any corals. As I've only ever had a handful of specimen I couldn't say If it is likely to take over or not. Other species of pseudocorynactis like the orange ball corallimorph get large enough to consume small foxfaces and tangs, so they are truly capable predators. Here is a Tidal gardens video on them if you are interested, I personally wouldn't worry too much about this species. But to each their own. https://www.tidalgardens.com/blog/pseudocorynactis-coral-care/
