i'm going to do a DIY sump. where can I go to get the glass and to get it cut? I'm not even sure if there is a glass cutting place where im at. we got lowes homedepot and menards? and what size do I need to get?

How DIY are you talking about? If you are buying a standard tank such as 40b and then adding baffles, acrylic inserts may be a better choice due to all the customizability. Kits exist online to convert standard PetCo/Petsmart tanks into sumps.
 
I would agree with the acrylic. All of the tools and materials are in the windows section at home depot.
 
Are you building the sump enclosure, or have a tank and adding baffles?

If building, what are the dimentions? This matters for glass thickness.

I would do a quick Google search in your area and look for a glass store. I broke a panel well making my frag tank and a replacement was 25 bucks.
