Got this lovely goatfish at my LFS. He has been there a while and no one notices him. Well I did! They didnt know what kind of a goatfish he is so they sold me it for $40! Had to go digging, Bonnie was 100% going to eat it so the little one will go into a grow out tank. Been looking for a goatfish for my sand! I put a tiger crowne in there, lasted a day. Nebby pulled it out of the shell…

Dash-and-dot goatfish?

You can see the characteristic line and spot hence its name

Might get a bit too big even for a 300g :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Also called yellow back, and it seems LA rates them at 125g although I don’t think that will be enough… https://m.liveaquaria.com/product/2673/?pcatid=2673

Yeah! Thats him for sure. And he should be fine in my 300, they dont swim much, they like to scavenge the sand all day long!

I love how they do that, but I don’t think I could handle sand being blown everywhere!

My eels fling it all over, Im used to it 😂 little one is in an acclimation box waiting for my 15 gallon to be ready for him. He is too small to go in the big tank, Bonnie (my grouper) tried to eat him within 15 minutes of him being acclimated!!! So he needs to grow out bigger so she doesnt think he is a snack.

Hows this goatfish doing?
Dang grouper decided to eat him one day. And a tang. So I evicted the grouper. My fault though, I didnt think they were small enough for the grouper to eat since the grouper wasnt that big. I havnt seen another since but Im still on the lookout

Oh man. Groupers are eating machines. I have had mine 5+ weeks and hes just living off crap he finds in the tank. Hunts at night and sits on powerhead all day

Yeah I loved mine, she was beautiful but man she just started eating tank mates even with all the food she was given. Shes with someone who has a 1200 gallon tank with other groupers and stuff. Her new owner says shes fit in and adapted very well
