After some searching around I’d like to verify what is best for the quantity of gobies in a 300g reef setup.

I had a diamond goby for about 2 years and I came to the conclusion that he’s gone. It’s been a few months now so I assume he passed some how. He did come out at every feeding and would swim up and down to get his food but at the moment I don’t have one.

But what I did notice was his entire life was spent in the one side of the tank and he would never venture out across the landscape which I wish he would have done.

So the question is can I add more then 1? I’ve read that 1-2 max?

If this is correct can I add a third of a deferent kind? Or am I just better getting 2 different types? If so what do you recommend?

I’m looking for a good sand sifter and one that isn’t taking sand up to the top and dropping substrate all over the rocks. I don’t mind the ski hills just would like to keep it all relative to the bottom area.

Thank you everyone 😊

You could probably get away with 3-4 diamond gobies in a 300 gallon with a healthy sand bed. Some may even pair up and eventually try to spawn.

I'd mix it up though, maybe a couple diamond gobies, a gold head sleeper Goby, and a watchman Goby or two depending on the species.

You would be fine to have multiple in a tank your size!

I had a diamond goby for 4 years, great personality but the swimming up in the water column releasing sand can be annoying. I recently replaced it with 2 twinspot gobies tha are great sand sifters but don’t do the swim up and release sand thing.

A few engineer gobies would work. They don't sift sand but look like eels when they get big.
Get 3-4.
I have a diamond goby in my 35 and it keeps the sand clean. I had yellow headed sleepers but they spew sand everywhere, lol.
I have a dragon goby in my 50 and a transparent cave goby in my 15.
The dragon is my favorite.
