I was wanting to know if I should spray paint my refugium baffles black so light won't spill over or does it even matter

i'd double confirm the product you're using isn't toxic to your inhabitants and then paint only the baffles that contain your refugium. Depending how your sump is arranged you likely won't be able to catch all of the light spill anyway but it definitely helps.
