LA states on their website that golden nugget clown cannot see copper above 0.15. Has anyone looked into the validity of this? Pls chime in. Thanks.

It may be captive bred. Copper is strong and you can safely use higher dosage with copper safe

Thanks, so are you saying it’s safe to use coppersafe on captive bred clowns? If so is the limit still 2.5?

Coppersafe would be mild but not sure why you are attempting a full blown treatment when theyre not sick. For preventative, I highly recommend using ruby rally Pro which covers an array of conditions but also mild. The other option is general cure.

You are right that there is no reason. I do have residual copper in my FOWLR DT 180G and I’m considering getting a golden nugget. The residual coppersafe can be as high as 1 so I wonder if it’s safe to get the new nugget in after a period of “monitoring” in copper-free QT.

Sorry for the confusion…, I am posting in the general fish discussion & not fish disease forum but I can see why it’s a bit confusing. Let me clarify.

I have FOWLR tanks. They are bare bottoms so it’s easy to clean. Plus I don’t overfeed so there is little waste to have a need of CUC. So I would medicate my tanks with coppersafe at times. As the result of that, I have residual copper in my tanks. I have recently come across a golden nugget maroon clown in a LFS & I want to get it. The problem is LA’s statement that this kind of clown cannot see copper above 0.15 level. So I’m asking this forum to see if ppl have similar or different exp to what LA is saying.
