Goniapora and alvapora

Both my goniapora and alvapora turned white
I’ve turned down my lights and moved both lower in my tank
Any other reasons they’d turn white ?

Pictures would help. One of two things could’ve happen they either bleached or the white you are seeing is the skeleton

I doubt it’s the skeleton so if they bleached wouldn’t it be because the lights are too high and moving them should help ?

They’re already at the bottom of the tank and I’ve decreased my light but they look bleached

They need iron, and lots of it.

EDIT: This assumes that you have as VERY stable alk that is neccessary for all coral growth.

Bleaching usually occurs when your reefs parameters don't match the previous environment in which the coral came from. This is particularly true with PAR, Temp, and Nutrients. Rushing or skipping the acclimation process altogether often leads to bleaching, rather than a slow death. Slow death is often a sign of a missing element or food. Like previous mentioned, Iron and Manganese goes a long way with these guys, as well as phyto for food.

What are ways to increase those parameters? Should I begin with spot feeding with phyto before adding iron supplements

Slowly. I use pure iron filings.

There are other supplements that you can use.

My alkalinity is at 7.4 calcium at 487, phosphates at 0.04 nitrates over 75.0
I don’t have a test for iron
Any suggestions?
