I am new to reefing and aquariums but I have done some research trying to find pictures of what this is and I can’t. I got this Goniopora a few weeks ago. Everything was great and then yesterday it started to get covered by this thin film on the right edge. I gently blew it off. Then this morning the right edge was covered again and hours later has covered almost the entire thing. Is this something I should gently remove or is this some shedding process?

Thanks

They don’t shed. Bacterial film growing on dead coral tissue unfortunately. Sorry it’s on it’s way out :( Tiny bit of polyps left, maybe can save the left side with an iodine dip.

That looks like drown jelly disease….take a ziplock as carefully as you can, put frag in bag underwater without disturbing the BJD zip it up then remove from tank and treat. Turn circulation off while removing frag.

I had this happen to one of my Gonis, and it was due to it being stung. Was anything close enough to sting it?

No there is nothing near it. Everything else in the tank looks good.
