Well Ive been out of the hobby and tankless for close to 16 months, and now Im back.

Thought Id post some pics now that the silly Koi is covered up from my pervious post. Kept the Kanji banner, koi covered by blue dragon and spirit of the phoenix on inner arm.

I've got another 5 hour session coming up next wed. I'll see if I can get a picture of it while he is working on my backpiece.
I'm getting it done at DragonMoon by Tom Beasley.

So far I have 2 sessions in - with total ink time of ~8 hours - probably another 10 to go...

Work in progress, finishing off the sleeve soon and starting the full back piece! One thing I don't like is the cherry blossom looks like a sticker not a realistic flower.

J/W is that suppose to be koi ? If so did the tattoo artist not mention in Japan Koi going downward is bad luck ?

Very nice work! I have several and even 1 traditional temple style (Sak Yant)(single needle hand poke) by Buddhist monk in Thailand

Ya the Koi was obviously a very bad choice. Also the artist selected was not skilled enough for that style tattoo.

Dnuckles-It was done by Jeff Zuck in Ann Arbor great artist, huge fin ego, kinda a prick.
But when I went to see him to incorporate the koi in a half sleeve, he pointed out all that was wrong with the tattoo. Being an artist that specializes in traditional tattoos he explained the swimming downward thing and the fact that the size was all wrong for my guns. Lolo and the water was not done correctly.
Since Ive researched and bought just about every book there is on the topic, when its time to do the left arm and full back piece I will be better preparred. Live and learn, at least tattoos don't hurt!

By the way love the Fu Dogs, looking to do a male and female like they are supposed to be done on either side of my stomach.

Corigan - NICE composition. I'd definitely hit want to get a tat done by whoever did those if I was looking for something like that! Sweet tats and love the 3d look to them.
