and a decent size acro frag is bleaching. It’s turning white from the bottom up. The only thing that’s changed is the water flow. I got a new MP40 last week and stuck it in the tank. Saturday I decided to move the MP40 back a few inches. The power head is closer to that particular frag than any other. Has anyone ever experienced flow-related SPS death?

Yes that can happen if the flow is directed towards it. I once had an acro which was approx 8 inches away from my MP40 and it lost a lot of skin overnight after i first placed the MP40 in the tank.

When i got a gyre i had some very direct flow on a tort that blew its skin off. It was only a few inches from the direct output of the pump. Might want to move the frag or the vortech again so the flow isn't directly blasting at it so close.

These days circulating pumps are very powerful ( to much ) they start at 500 gph and up . You could get a fishing boat motor and put it in there LOL
I say this stuff because this past weekend I got 2 small circulation pumps 500 gph each. it was a tornado in the tank (40 gal) so much for that . Still searching for something smaller.
I just looked up the MP40 wow up to 4500 gph . A bit much so close .
Good luck with your corals .

Yea... powerful. I have it turned down to 50% but I think I’ll lower it. And I’ll move the frag. Thanks guys!
