I plan on keeping a Goby in my newest tank that I am setting up. Im looking at the special grade sand that ranges from 1mm-2mm. Will this larger sand be safe for this fish to sift? I love the look of the fine grain sand but am concerned about too much shifting/blowing as well as trapping detritus.

I would caution against the really fine grain sand because of how easily it blows around. As far as for the goby, I think it would be ok.

You are wise to avoid fine grain sand. I switched over to Reeflakes (3.5mm size) and my gobies do fine with that.
