Hello everyone,

So over the last couple weeks in my 8 gallon tank at work I've been having a green algae on the surface water. It doesn't go anywhere else in the tank it just sits at the top. Anyone know what it could be? I skimmed it all out when it first showed up a couple weeks ago but it's now coming back. It doesn't show up on the rocks nor on the sand just at the surface of the water. I can't remember how I got rid of it last time I had it but would a dark time for the weekend work? No one will be at the office anyways. It also only shows up where the return pump isn't hitting, there seems to be enough surface agitation but for some reason a couple times a year this algae shows up. Thank you for any help!

Without more info about feeding, lighting, I'm just guessing here. But here's the usual process: Cut down the photo period of the daily lighting after leaving the tank dark for a couple of days to 8 hours max. Consider how much and how often you are feeding. Cheers!
