a head on one of my green fuzzy mushrooms appears to be dead/dying, do i need to remove the whole frag rock from the tank or will the the dead head naturally decompose?

I would leave it but want to figure out why a hardy coral such as a mushroom is dying.

Do you have any non reef safe fish? Or potential soft coral preds?

had a big drop in magnesium that was responsible for polyp bailout on my hammer torch, i'm sure that could that be it

also have a long spine urchin that walks over the mushroom everyday, not sure if that could stress it enough

Yeah, that is probably stressing the mushroom out. Does it walk over and bother any other corals?

Also, you said your magnesium dropped? Did any of your other parameters drop, or just Mag?
