I moved to a small college town in Arkansas where I found a small reef shop that’s basically a smoke shop. They have a large sps tank in the store and several holding tanks filled with pretty common sps frags. They have a decent size bali slimer , multi-branched, and maybe4-5” tall that is in a tank that isn’t listed for sale. I’ve been in the store a few times to look and finally decided to set up a small tank, so the main guy knows that I’m interested in some corals. My dumb*** opened my mouth and told him that some of these corals would be worth hundred of dollars in California. So today I asked him how much for the slimer in which he gave me a number that I think is crazy considering I’m probably 1 of 3 reefers in town. He doesn’t sell online and inventory doesn’t move often. My question how much would a slimer go for of this size? I haven’t bought anything from him yet but if he’s going to jab me for everything I might just get my corals online. He has a giant slimer colony in the main tank and at least 10 frags available. It is probably the most common stag in the hobby. How much should I offer him? I’m seeing it as a supply and demand issue. Bali slimer isn’t that fancy and I might be the only one in this town that would even buy it.
