Ok so I know that a good amount of people in the community just HATE this coral because it's too invasive or something like that. I just really like the wavy grassy look to it. I've done a lot of reading about it and people say that it is next to impossible to kill which helps to hear I guess. For some reason it just does not want to open I even had a separate frag of it and it didn't want to open and so I put it in my little 8 gallon cube it opened within hours completely. I do see little heads popping out now and then but not fully extended and the surface of it is still a deep purple which I have read means it's still alive. I've moved it to a lot of different positions in the tank. I've moved power heads around and everything to change up the flow and how far it sits from the light. Everything is in check as far as parameters. I just find it so odd that it is considered a nuisance for a lot of people and I have had hardly any luck with it yet I can keep the rest of my LPS and SPS happy. I would really appreciate all the help I can get I know to many it wouldn't even be worth your time but I honestly just can't figure out what's going on.

Thanks.

Just realized that I put this in the wrong section but my question still stands.

They can be grouped together with zoanthids and other little fleshy polyps as in they like the water a little dirty. What's your nutrients looking like?

Leave it alone!

When I had it a number or years ago, if it got ticked off (I moved it, cut it up, etc), it wouldn't come back out for days if not a week or so. Just leave it be and it will open.

Nope no algae
Do you use a auto topoff or do you add water when the water level drops because my gsp would close when my salinity raised when I didn't have my auto topoff, my salinity would jump 1.5-2ppt when I finally added water. I'm a busy guy and that auto topoff is a life saver for me.

I second this, they're sturdy but sensitive it's strange.

I had a branching green star polyp (or austrialian idk if they're the same). Anyways he was closed for like a week until I put him in water flow. After that he opened partially then fully. Try more flow maybe.

Alright I'll try to leave it in high flow and I won't touch it for a while. Guess it looks like I'm going need to get that auto top off then. Thanks guys!
