GSP, how to remove from live rock

So I'm a beginner, GSP looks awesome, and is hardy, and I purchased a 3x4" piece from the LFS. Didn't know much more than what I've just written.

It's clearly already grown which is great, at least I know some part of my tank is healthy.

But I placed it mostly on a piece of live rock, and now I understand its just going to grow, cover, and spread. I'm not really a fan of that, so now I'm interested in trying to remove it from the live rock, and relocate it, most likely to the back wall, and let it grow down the wall if possible.

I've found plenty of videos on fragging it, but not much on removing it from live rock.... Looking for information, thanks!

I like to put other stinging corals around it to keep it in check. Otherwise I don't think removing it is feasible without killing the rock :confused-face:

Any pics of how you keep it corraled?

Fortunately for me this is fairly new, so its probably only attached to 1/4 of the rock, maybe less, so trying to fix it before its way too late.

With practice you get some nice strips.i stuck mine in overflow eventually

I have used an electric toothbrush that I waterproofed to brush it off. Also works well for hair algea.

If its a nice flat rock or just doesn't have a bunch of ridges, I just use a razor blade and cut it and slowly peel it off. Ive fragged gsp that is hanging off of stuff or just not encrusted by literally just ripping it with my hand and it does just fine and still grows.
