Title! I just set up a waterbox peninsula 4820. But now I’m torn between 2 gyres or 2 Nero 5....

Not such which would be the best in the long run.

It’s going to be a mixed reef and I’m using Carbisea special grade sand

I prefer gyre style pumps. They give a wide flow pattern and keep a low profile in the tank due to being able to mount high on the glass close to the water level. The real trick becomes dealing with the cable on the far end of the tank without a canopy to hide it in

I was thinking maybe put both of them by the overflow

i'd say gyres on alternating wave patterns. Tons of water flow and not a dead spot you have to worry about

My two Gyres died after 2-3 years of use. I used up all spare parts and could not take noise anymore. In the trash they went.

I prefer Tunze or Ecotech powerheads for durability.

I'm looking at that same tank! I like the footprint of the Nero 5's and I only hear great things about them, but if I do get the same tank ill go with two mp10's.
