I got an H. magnifica from a guy locally who had it for about 2 weeks and it seemed healthy. He had it on the sand bed. I tried to get it to attach to a rock like my BTAs, but its foot wouldn't stick down. I ended up having to wedge it into some rocks and rely on the stickiness of the tentacles to keep it down. However, it keeps floating up in the water column because the foot is not attaching. This morning I found it attached to the powerhead. I turned off the powerhead and am slowly letting it get itself out. It doesn't seem to be too damaged.

Is this normal for the foot to take so long to attach on a magnifica? My BTAs stuck down almost immediately. Anything I can do to help it?

Okay, I have the powerheads off and I am going to let it unattach from them and hopefully find somewhere to attach. Now I am beginning to think the magnifica I was sold is actually a LTA. In which case it needs to be buried in the sand and that might explain why it isn't attaching well to the rocks.

Is this a LTA? It looks a lot like this one:
