So as the title says I’m not sure if my Halloween hermit crab is sick or not. I received it from Reef Cleaners on Thursday and it has only moved once from where I originally placed it into tank. On Friday morning i saw its molt. Are hermits usually like this? This is my first hermit crab. Tank is 10 months old.

If he just molted he will stay put until his new carapace hardens, until then it is vulnerable and will hide or stay put. Totally normal and nothing to worry about.

How did it go? I also just got one - SAME behavior. But what's weird, I put him in a bowl of water (I assumed he was already dead but since no smell, thought I'd give it one more go) and he came out. Didn't move, much. But, out. So after an hour or so, I needed to put him back in the tank. And....he hasn't moved since. Thinking he also might want a new shell, I got a couple of slightly larger ones. But nothing so far. Sigh.

My Halloween’s were pretty lazy for the first week or so after I added them. Now they drive me nuts!!! Lol. Give em some time.
Ok, thanks. It's easy to confuse lazy with dead. Lol The tiger conch I added the same time went right for it, but I guess there's no comparison. I'll attempt patience because you know, I'm extra good at it. Lol

It’s always amazing how impatient most of us in the hobby truly are... hahaha. Maybe a lot of us get into the hobby to at least attempt to learn it? Hahah
