Those “teeth” showing is a bad sign and it means it’s skeleton is showing
Eeeek! I'm a newbie to reefing and just got this guy yesterday from the LFS; will it recover?

It doesn't show when not eating and was only exposed during this *particularly big* bite

It should recover, yes. Keep your water parameters good (minimum 0.03ppm phosphates, 5-10ppm nitrates), feed it once a week, and let it be. Frozen mysis or small pellets are good foods for hammers.

Might have been damaged by a shrimp or something picking at its mouth area, would be my guess. Not super important; LPS can regrow from way worse.

Yep just keep an eye on it

Its nice and stuffed now! Hopefully if it feeds like this once a week it'll grow back soon!
